Product Design
This year’s showcase from the Product Design department celebrates the work of students in the BA Product Design and BA Interaction Design. It will also showcase work from the MA Service Design, MSc in Medical Device Design, and MA Interaction Design in September.
The projects on show engage with a broad range of contemporary design challenges including health, sustainability, well-being and new working environments. These challenges are addressed in a wide variety of ways when approached through the lens of each of the disciplines within the department. Projects range from the design of AI powered digital environments, to medical task trainers, through to new material development; each demonstrating the scope for positive impact through design.
Underpinning the work is a human-centered design process that seeks to develop a deep understanding of human behaviour. This process is central to the departmental ethos and informs the design of meaningful solutions that are grounded in real world needs.
The students have shown an extraordinary ability to pivot their design practice in challenging circumstances towards realising their degree projects. We are proud to present their work and look forward to the future impact that these students have as they move to the next stage in their careers.
