Inspired by Francisco Goya’s paintings, the photography of Joel-Peter Witkin, and the novel ‘American Psycho’ by Bret Easton Ellis, my collection explores themes of horror, power and the untamed wild. ‘Uncultivated’ is a universal line designed for all genders, pushing masculine and feminine expectations.
The genre of horror has always been a source of comfort for me, invoking thoughts of what it means to be safe, uncomfortable, or dominant. Red fabrics and hand-painted latex offer a nod to the bloody slasher films, while the reflection of foliage growing alludes to the remains of a previous life. I was influenced to pursue structures that appear to take over the body, sometimes bursting through garments that attempt to tame the barbarity of human nature.
