It Looks Like Love

Jordan Farrelly

'It Looks Like Love' explored the phenomenon of hook-ups enabled via dating apps as the new normal of a loving relationship. My research engaged processes of distilling personal ephemera of love letters, text messages, receipts, and photography from personal experiences into mixed media collages. The collages are reconstructed into small, intimate artefacts referencing the iPhone. Each artefact is constructed of layers of metanarrative mementos. Mirror and glass are used to create the layers within each artefact as a device to weave the environment and viewer in and out of the artefact. It is a less interactive mechanism than instant messaging allows but is staging a more reflective interface.
