'Hold the Phone' is a collection that combines contradictory elements of 1960s fashion. It juxtaposes playful, mod-inspired features with sharp sartorial silhouettes to create a classic feel with playful flare.
Initial inspiration for this collection came from curiosity sparked by the television series Mad Men. The portrayal of women in a male dominated workplace piqued interest in my grandmother’s experience working as a secretary in the 60s, which led to her sharing many stories of office drama. In sharp contrast to this, the mod scene in London during the 60s inspired me to incorporate flamboyance and playful details throughout the collection.
Garments are inspired by classic pieces; trench coats, blazers, silk shirts and scarves. They are the gems that we seek out in vintage or second hand marketplaces, made to last and of a quality that demands they be passed from one owner to the next.
