Textured Reality

‘Textured Reality’ has been an evolving concept throughout this last year. I noticed that I was constantly interested in time. I wondered how much time had passed since I got up and did things, how certain days, weeks and months felt as if time flowed differently, sometimes quickly other times painfully slow. I realised that my interest in time and why it felt different to how it seemed before, was due to my lack of structure and routine.
The idea that textiles and the process of making them creates a sense of time is central to this work. Using patterns to portray structure and then distorting or re-imaging them, is an attempt to show the change in how we see time and lack of structure. This project is intended to reflect my struggle with structure and the undefined time we find ourselves in.
