Escapism

Ellen Conlon

She/her

My current work is based around the theme of 'Escapism', which is the tendency to seek relief from unpleasant realities. I have been exploring the dissociation surrounding my escape from reality using the process of Zentangle. Zentangle is a form of meditative therapy, which asks us to focus on how we choose and apply colour in a design to bring our awareness to the present moment.
This series is my exploration into escapism. Through constantly creating images and using colour, unbeknownst to me at the time, it turned out to be a form of therapy.
