She/her

This collection is inspired by my personal response to traditional craft and culture in rural Ireland, particularly County Mayo. The theme of sentimentality has influenced this work through my interpretation of my grandmother's handcrafted quilts along with family photographs from both the past and present. This has been represented through hand knitted vests and hand embroidery within the collection, while also influencing form and the muted colour palette. The natural landscape surrounding my home constructed the atmosphere for the collection, encouraging the need to protect and showcase its identity. Reflection within the project promoted a sense of belonging and accentuated the elements of heritage that are involved in making one an individual.
