The pressures to portray the perfect image in our contemporary society

My research is based on the pursuit of perfection which I feel many young people are battling with
today. To this end I have designed a printed streetwear unisex fashion collection. In my collection I have two colour palettes: one representing ‘perfection’ and the other representing ‘imperfection’. I portray perfection through bright and joyful colours while imperfection is portrayed using gritty dark and dull colours. Fabrics consist of light and heavy weights that are able to be worn together.
Processes include pigment, Devore and flock. I also use colour blocking, photography and expressive mark making. Ultimately, the aim of this collection is to encourage debate amongst young people about what the perfect image really is?
