A personal relationship with the Hill of Tara is explored with a heavy influence surrounding the themes of history, nature and family. The Hill of Tara holds an important place in both the hearts and minds of my family. For years, the hill has offered itself to my family as a place to connect with nature and the history of ancient Ireland whilst also serving as a link to my late grandfather, who is buried at the cemetery on the hill. This body of work is heavily focused around the themes of nature and the history of the Hill of Tara. It encompasses elements that intertwine with my family history and the Hill of Tara throughout.
The work is intended to create pieces that speak about a shared personal experience that myself and my family have in relation to the Hill of Tara. The paintings are also intended to speak to the viewer and communicate the importance of what is to be found at this ancient heritage site, offering an understanding of what ancient Ireland has to offer and its great importance.
