As a multimedia artist predominantly using photography and video in my practice, the work presented is underpinned by a deep rooted interest in history, micro-histories, story-telling and archival practices. I continually return to the Irish landscape as a site of image making and the colonial histories associated with this landscape is an important pillar within my research. This body of work is part of a long term research project which I began in the National Herbarium in 2017. The research looks at the history of commercial forestry in Ireland and the colonial processes that lead to both the deforestation and reforestation of land in Ireland. The images and videos are heavily influenced by the photographic process and are explicitly referential of this mode of production.
