Her identity, Her choice and Her gaze

Lauren Hughes O'Brien

She/her

Isn't it fascinating how we all make these minor choices on what we should dress ourselves in? Deciding whether to stand out or stay in the crowd? This is more important than we would think. It is literally the visual representation of our identity. What's even more important is the fact that we have these choices. Once upon a time, women were very limited in how they could adorn themselves. Through time, with powerful people slowly making changes, a freedom in our beauty choices gradually began. Modern women now have the freedom of self-expression with their own physical beings. I would like to embrace that in my work, to embrace the modern woman's choices and how they want to view themselves. Literally capturing their gaze in the visual identity which they have created.
