Will you walk with us? An eco-feminist approach to sustainable land practice. See. Appreciate. Change.
Katie Kenny
She/Her
Katie Kenny is an artist, teacher and researcher based in County Wexford. Kenny’s art practice investigates gender and farming by creating awareness of the lack of recognition females receive in the agriculture sector in Ireland. Her video installations question the patriarchal authority and marginalisation of women in the male-dominated environment.
Kenny’s art practice shapes her teaching, resulting in a pedagogy that emphasises social justice issues, creating an inclusive learning environment and promoting her student's voices. She uses questioning to drive the lessons which are inspired by Bloom’s Taxonomy. Recently she delivered a project about ecofeminism which stemmed from researching Development Education and the Change Lab experience. Through sustainable interventions her students questioned their role in creating a more equal world.
