'The Unfolding Body, The Unfolding Self' is an exploration of the material ‘unfolding’ of our immaterial self. Divided in four themes – Movement, Time, Touch and Volume – it constitutes a study of the ways in which the act of folding has a significant impact on the construction of individuality, acting as both a universal differentiator and the catalyst to a process of personal revelation.
The project also delves into the notion of the publication from a semiotic perspective: a physical space where written language meets plastic language, where the convergence and interaction of words, shapes, images and materials produces an object that translates deeper meanings. Its characteristics, such as format, texture or finishing, shape the interaction between the object and the body, the latter being controlled by the physicality of the publication.
