Helena’s artist practice explores a range of complex issues including mass-surveillance and power imbalances in society. Since beginning her PME programme, she has been exposed to the importance of Development Education. It makes us think differently about our teaching pedagogy. It provides us with the ability to highlight sustainability and social justice issues through a creative lens. The Change Lab project gave Helena the opportunity to explore her identity as an artist, researcher and educator through the processes of arts-based research. Helena endeavours to integrate these concepts into her classroom practice to promote creative inquiry, critical thinking and to heighten students’ awareness of contemporary issues.
