The Embodiment of Knowledge. A curiosity of exploration
Gráinne Murphy
Using the hand technique of crochet as a conduit, Murphy explores the embodiment of knowledge. For her, the tactility of “making”, with its inherent fine motor skills and “muscle memory”, allows an emotional as well as a physical response to the archive of inter-generational memory. The re-enactment of the various physical movements of the human hand as a tool intrigues her, and encourages a deeper exploration of the shared experiences of experts.
