Transpose

Deborah Corcoran

She/her

'Transpose' comprises three works questioning the complex relationships that farming and art practices have to land, through observation and action. My interest is understanding the contemporary rural environment by examining various forms of labour.

'An Act' is a form of care after witnessing a cow fostering a calf. The economy and welfare of the animal are at stake in the moment of a dance. The calfskin undergoes a 19 day process of attention, care and labour.

'Positionings' is a publication of active research. Situated in Laois, the work honours what is present and questions the future of the local, labour and its value through use and production.

'A Structure' is a collaboration with my father and brother. We re-purposed a marginal space on the farm to create an active space for events and talks. A space for action and agency that will organically take on use and functionality beyond the exhibition.
