How can art promote mindfulness?

Caitlin McAndrew

She/her

Let me in said the DARKNESS
You know there’s comfort in the emptiness
Give into the melancholy and feel the despair
Don’t try to rise above it with thoughts of small comforts
They’re no match for our union, remember you don’t care

Stop moving the clouds said the Darkness and reaching for the calm
Living in the now is no comfort at all

Goodbye said the darkness, the colours are too bright
No room for sunshine, it hurts my eyes

There’s comfort in this happy place
Breathe it in and smile
Hello said the SUNSHINE
Why not relax and stay a while?

As long as we deny this bond or do things that work against it, we will not find mental or emotional balance” – Clemens Arvay
