An Gorta Mór

By 1845, Ireland had long been ruled and her land exploited.
Her people were unprepared for famine.
Over one million died.
They starved.
Their homes were burned.
They died of disease.
They could not afford coffins to bury their children.
They lived in holes in the ground.
Another million fled the country.
To this day our population has still not recovered.

Using Illustration, these projects explore this troubling time in Irish history. They serve as a way to refresh people's memory of the horrors of that era.
